Advertising its bristle strength as ‘Firm’. If used incorrectly, you can have a negative effect on your gums. Although this toothbrush is very appealing due to its design and colour, we would recommend only using soft bristled brushes.

While Oral B makes a great electric toothbrush, the Oral B 3D White Medium Toothbrush is less desired due to the head size. Too large to fit all mouths, if you find you have a wide mouth opening then maybe this is the toothbrush for you. It does feature a very stylised handle which is easily held and can bend around your mouth with ease. Medium bristled toothbrushes are not the gold standard  if used too hard, they can brush away healthy gum.

Colgate Bamboo Charcoal Soft Toothbrush - Tesco Groceries3) Colgate Toothbrush Bamboo Soft – Between $6.50 – $7.50

We love our environmentally friendly brushes! But only for that reason… It is hard to manufacture a bamboo/wooden toothbrush with bendable heads and helpful tapered bristles. If you want to be contributing to the environment, then this is the toothbrush for you.

Sensodyne is onto something here, although the handle isn’t as flexible it does have a soft grip. Soft bristled heads are best, The Sensodyne Sensitive Teeth Toothbrush Repair & Protect has a small soft bristled head that can reach the very important back area of our mouths. By far the winner. Ultra Soft bristles, small accessible toothbrush head, and ergonomic handle that flexes where needed. Did you know that you can get toothbrushes with smaller heads  you buy from your local dental practice.

The supermarket toothbrushes are designed for the consumer, they feature large heads, firmer toothbrush bristles and are just bigger overall. What is not common knowledge, is that softer toothbrushes are better. The aim of brushing is to remove the soft plaque build up. So really only a soft brush is required. A medium or firm brush can cause irreversible loss of the tooth and gum structure.

Maintain your oral hygiene with an ultrasoft toothbrush, regular dental check-up examinations, and professional dental hygiene visit. Will result in less surprise trips to the dentist and less pressure on your wallet!
